The Yellow Brick Road - the brainchild of an Israeli and an Arab - is an educational "beyond school" program. YBR is located in a refugee camp where the UNRWA schools are crowded, dirty, freezing in the winter and sweltering in the summer. There are no afterschool or summer programs, no community centers and no green spaces.
Filling this void, YBR operates five days each week after school and full days during the summer and other extended school vacations. All YBR lessons, whether in English, math, Arabic or the arts, are targeted to promote the concepts of personal, social and environmental responsibility - the pillars for productive lives – in a healthy, positive communal environment.
